Wow! It has been a year already. Mind you, they say time flies when you're having fun!
Joining Belle PR as an intern in July 2023 was the start of an amazing journey, and writing this blog has given me a chance to reflect on the personal development and exciting milestones that I have achieved.
Charlotte's mentorship at Belle has had a huge influence on my passion for the industry as she has helped me navigate the transition from student to employee and the day-to-day life of working in public relations, marketing, communications, and engagement.
From the start, Charlotte encouraged and provided a working environment where curiosity and continuous learning were at the core of everything we do. On day one, Charlotte encouraged me to "Be curious," which is now the mantra I use to approach every challenge and opportunity. A year later, I still have the pink Post-it note with this written on it on my desk. Being curious means asking all the questions, saying yes to new experiences, and stepping outside my comfort zone. I have learned that this is what helps us understand our client’s expectations and their audience's wants and needs, ensuring we get the best results possible.
Transitioning into a full-time role in January and my graduation in April have been two of the biggest highlights for me this year. Being able to share that with my friends and family as well as Charlotte was amazing. Not many people can say that their boss was at their graduation ceremony.
At Belle, we take pride in discovering and leveraging each team member’s strengths. I have enjoyed uncovering my strengths and being supported by those around me to learn new things and not feel judged when doing so.
One of the most rewarding things about my work at Belle is seeing the outcome and results of campaigns and client work. Whether it’s writing and distributing a local story that gets positive pick-up or helping organise a large-scale event like a client’s presence at Fieldays, there is always a feeling of relief, joy and of course motivation. Relief that the hard work has paid off and the client is happy. Joy in the success itself, and motivation to tackle the next challenge with a little more confidence.
So, in reflecting on the past year, I’m incredibly grateful to Charlotte and Belle for the opportunities that have been provided. For the chance to contribute to the many awesome projects, networking events, workshops and training, road trips and running half marathons. Being part of a dynamic team and working alongside three women who bring with them a varied background and a range of experiences means the memories I am making I know will be unforgettable.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about what the future holds for me, Belle and our clients.
